Erich Fromm was a German social psychologist, psychoanalyst, sociologist and philosopher. Fromm was to be associated with what became known on a global scale as the Frankfurt School of critical theory.
His most famous work, “Escape from Freedom”, focuses on the individual’s urge to seek a source of authority and control. However, everything started from his belief that freedom was an individual’s first true desire. “The Sane Society” represented the culmination of his social and political philosophy. The book argued in favor of a humanistic and democratic socialism.
