Jon Meacham is an American Pulitzer Prize-winning author as well as executive editor and executive vice president of Random House book publishers. In the past he has served as editor in chief at Newsweek and contributing editor at Time Magazine. He is a well-known commentator on politics, religion and history.
Meacham spent his high school years living with his grandfather, a well-known author of Napoleonic-era maritime novels. It seems this contributed towards Jon’s own interest in history, literature and politics. In 1991, he graduated from the University of the South with a degree in English literature and went on to join Newsweek as a writer.
Meacham has edited books by several famous personalities including Al Gore, Charles Peters and Mika Brzezinski.
