Gloria Steinem was born in Toledo Ohio. After college she became a freelance writer. Steinem constantly grew more engaged in the women’s movement. She helped create both “New York” and “Ms.” Magazines. Steinem also helped form the National Women’s Political Caucus.
Steinem worked with Jane Fonda and Robin Morgan to co-found the Women’s Media Center. The organization works to amplify the voices of women who work in the media. She also involves herself in politics and media affairs as a commentator and campaigns for candidates and reforms. She continues to publish books and articles.
