E. M. Forster was an English novelist, short story writer, essayist and librettist. Forster is famous for his ironic and interestingly plotted novels that examine class differences and hypocrisy in British society. His had a humanistic impulse that pushed him to understand and sympathize with people.
His 1908 novel, “A Room with a View”, is regarded as his most optimistic work. However, it was “A Passage to India” that brought him his greatest success.
Forster also served as President of the Cambridge Humanists from 1959 until his passing. In addition, he was also a member of the Advisory Council of the British Humanist Association.
