Carl Sandburg was an American writer and editor. Sandburg was awarded three Pulitzer Prizes – two of them for his poetry and the other for his famous biography of President Abraham Lincoln.
He recorded excerpts from this biography and included some of Lincoln’s most famous speeches. Sandburg was also awarded a Grammy Award in 1959 for Best Performance – Documentary or Spoken Word (Other Than Comedy). He won the Grammy for his outstanding recording of Aaron Copland’s Lincoln Portrait in collaboration with the New York Philharmonic.
