Calvin Coolidge was born in Plymouth Notch Vermont. In the Massachusetts government he was known as a Progressive Republican. Coolidge was then elected U.S vice president – 1920. Shortly afterwards, he became President of the United States when Warren G. Harding died in 1923.
Aside from that,Coolidge was known to have always spoken out in favor of civil rights. Most of his contemporaries referred to him as “Silent Cal”, due to his quite reserved nature. While he served as President, he chose not to run for a second term. Calvin Coolidge died in Northampton, Massachusetts.
