Terence (Publius Terentius Afer) was a Roman playwright known for his comedies. He is considered to be the second most important writer after Plautus. The language of Terence’s plays was considered to be the standard for classical Latin for several centuries. Although he wrote only six plays, these were widely studied and acted. These six plays include The Brothers, The Girl of Andros, and The Eunuch and the remaining three were adaptations and translations of other playwrights including Menander.
He is known for terse and moralistic sayings such as "Many men, many minds!" and "I consider nothing human alien to me."
