Richard Feynman was a theoretical physicist from the US; well known for his participation in the development of the Atom bomb. However, it was his work on quantum mechanics that earned him real fame. He won a Nobel Prize in Physics in 1965 (with Julian Schwinger and Sin-Itiro Tomonaga) for working on the development of quantum electrodynamics. The leading physicists of our time consider him to be among the top ten greatest physicists of all time. He was one of the pioneers of quantum
computing and also introduced the concept of nanotechnology. He made physics popular through his books and lectures.
