Donald Young is an American politician of the Republican Party serving as the U.S. Representative for Alaska’s at-large congressional district since 1973.
He is the longest-serving member ever of the United States House of Representatives from the state of Alaska and the longest currently serving House member.
He became Dean of the House of Representatives on December 5, 2017 after the resignation of John Conyers of Michigan. He is also the first Republican in 84 years since Gilbert N. Haugen of Iowa to become Dean of the House, as well as the first from Alaska.
