Charles Baudelaire was born in Paris. He is one of the most famous French poet of all time. He published his first work in 1845 and continued writing until his death. He came to fame for his 1857 volume of poems known as “Les Fleurs du mal”.
His main themes include sex, death, lesbianism, metamorphosis, depression, corruption, the loss of one’s innocence and alcohol addiction. His poems and volumes not only gained him a loyal readership, but also garnered a lot of controversy. The law was not very permissive when it came to his poems. As a consequence, he was punished Baudelaire along with his publisher and the book’s printer.
