Barbara Pierce Bush is the wife of the 41st President of the United States of America – George H. W. Bush. Barbara Bush served as First Lady of the US from 1989 to 1993. She is the mother of the 43rd President – George W. Bush – and of the 43rd Governor of Florida – Jeb Bush. Previously, Barbara Bush served as Second Lady of the US from 1981 to 1989.
Barbara Bush is well-known to have been actively supporting and working to advance the cause of universal literacy. While she served as First Lady, she founded the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy.
